Kibitzer's Corner
May-05-14  GumboGambit: Outside of a pair of contrived computer matchups, this is the only game in the current database that features a "pure" Four Knights Opening. I would have thought that it would show up here or there in a correspondence or blitz game, but this was a recent prominent event.

Entertaining game, as Hendriks escapes a draw by repetition. The White Queen then graciously steps aside to allow the pawns to corner the Black King. Meanwhile the Black Queen can do nothing but watch up close as White dominates the g-file. An aesthetically pleasing opening is followed up by an attractive final position. (Although Cebula may disagree. )

On an unrelated note, Jerzy Cebula translated into English is: Jerry Onion.
