Jan-19-16  kamagong24: Dreev on fire!!! so far 4 wins out of 4 games!!!

as i recall Dreev was part of the Russian team that played in the 30th Chess Olympiad held in Manila 1992

the team comprised of Kasparov, Vyzmanavin, Khalifman, Dreev, Dolmatov and Kramnik on board 4!!!

Dreev has been around and is nice to see him school some of these youngsters :p

keypusher: I liked the game -- it was as if Botvinnik or Petrosian was playing Black, and that's OK with me. But why did White give the exchange back?

Did he feel he had to to hold on, or was he trying to win?

Jan-20-16  Mr. V: <keypusher> I suspect he was trying to hold on. The rooks feel pretty cramped. But of course you're a much stronger player than me so I really can't explain to you Black's winning plan if White decides to keep the rooks on. I suspect it's a pawn advance on the kingside, or a breakthrough in the center with ...e5.
Jan-20-16  Mr. V: Maybe better would be 38.Bb4? What do you think?
