Mar-09-16  luftforlife: Black has done well to neutralize one attack on her pawn at e5 with 19. . . . Nxg3 (leaving White with doubled pawns and a vulnerable h-file), and likewise has done well now to translate her dsb from c5 (18. . . . Bc5) to d6 (21. . . . Bd6) -- equalizing pressure on e5 with her dsb and queen (vs. White's exertion of pressure with heavy pieces alone), and thereby controlling e5.
Mar-09-16  patfoley: White should try a5 followed by alternating pressure on queen side and king side with f5f6 as a possibility
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: Black's 14. . . . Ne7 has proved effective: a nettlesome defender.
Mar-09-16  patfoley: White still needs a5 to bring enough pressure on th black g pawn and to restrain black on the queenside
Mar-09-16  patfoley: But in order to avoid Ng8-f6, White may need f3 first forcing Rg8. Then a5 and Ra4.
Mar-09-16  leow: how abt f2f3
Mar-09-16  leow: or Rh1
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: White's doubled pawn at g3 might just prove a helpful defender.
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: <patfoley>: There's the dreaded 24. . . . Ng8 followed by 26. . . . Nf6 one-two punch you had anticipated. Good foresight.
Mar-09-16  patfoley: Mm wasted 4 tempi (the king will have to retreat) and allowed Black to regroup on the Kside.

Gypsy: My feel is that initiative, even advantage, has passed to Black
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: Now Black's 21. . . . Bd6 proves a thorn in White's side.
Mar-09-16  varishnakov: The horse on h4 is stuck in the mud.

  Gypsy: Black has a lot of improving moves: Kg7, Rbd8, Be5, ...

White has ... an off-sided knight

Mar-09-16  luftforlife: Perhaps 24. Rad1 has proved a miscue; wasteful now for White to have to defend her rook at d1 with 30. Bb3 against the discovered attack by Black's rook at d8 should Black check with . . . Bd6xg3+.
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: <patfoley> <leow>: There's the f3 by White you'd mentioned many moves ago.

Mar-09-16  devere: A strange seesaw game, but Hou is winning, and that effectively clinches the match for her.

Gypsy: 35...f2 36.Bd3 Bxe7 looks desperate for White. Or am I missing something?
Mar-09-16  whiteshark: Sorry to say, but she's a dead loss now. :(
Mar-09-16  Octavia: well done, Yifan! 2-0

HeMateMe: I heard that Magnus and Yifan are planning to have kids. They're naming the first one "3000."
Mar-09-16  luftforlife: That "knight on the rim" novelty 10. Nh4 proved fruitless for White.

eternaloptimist: Indeed Muzychuk is definitely lost now. Since Judith Polgar retired, Hou is in a league of her own in Women's chess. Even Humpy can't hang w/ her.

Gypsy: The efficacy of ratings is sometimes actually uncanny: The running score has been quite close to that predicted by ratings throughout the match.
