fredthebear: White should have played 25.NxBd4, unpinning and protecting the White queen. Instead, he threw another log on the fire w/a rook lift.

Backdraft!!

It's the Black knight that turns the tide w/25...Nc4! - a fine multi-purpose move: interference, unpin, and a discovered check.

Material is even in the final position, but Black's rook is about to hit the White queen - or the back rank if she steps out of the way to Qf2. White will go up in smoke. Black will easily save queen, then knight from the lateral aim of the Ra4.

Time 0-1. The sudden turn of events must have been devastating.

Yuridmi: Typical Carlsen: He plays an offbeat opening that a Sixth Grader might deploy in an after-school chessclub. Then uses it to beat his opponent black and blue
