Sep-12-16  ambongtumbong: napaka sakit kuya Eddie.
Sep-12-16  PhilFeeley: Only 2 draws between these two so far, so I expect another. However, the US is out for gold, so they will probably play as aggressively as possible. Should be a great match
Sep-12-16  Olsonist: Those two draws were in 2008. Bareev is 2675 and Caruana is at 2809 and playing white. So Bareev should be trying to hold a draw.
Sep-12-16  waustad: The final round starts earlier if chess-results.com is correct.
Sep-12-16  waustad: By 7am most of the games will be over.
Sep-13-16  PhilFeeley: But if it's 4-0 you can rest easy. US will win gold.

offramp: It has just gone 6am in London, England. This game will start in an hour.

Old Offramp has had a troubled dream. In my dream I saw 4 men cheering and laughing and drinking champagne. Behind them was a large red leaf and a portrait of Lord Balfour. They gave eight thumbs up.

Then the dream changed. I was four men, men in tears, gnashing their teeth. They each held out their right hands and these hands were whipped by Mr Rex Sinquefield.

I wonder what it means?

Sep-13-16  Robyn Hode: Fabi probably has one of his unique engine prepared openings ready.
Sep-13-16  PhilFeeley: <offramp> It means you're being paranoid. The US has this in the bag. And that's speaking as one cheering for Canada.

chessgames.com: Sorry folks, we're waiting on the moves just like everybody else.
Sep-13-16  WinKing: Starts 11:00 Baku time, 03:00 EDT(U.S. East Coast - 3am).
Sep-13-16  Olsonist: Yeah, we'll wait faster already.
Sep-13-16  WinKing: Now I know why the Bookie windows closed early. :/

offramp: The 7.a4/8.a5 idea looks good.

offramp: Black likes to wait until White moves his Bc1, then play ...Qb6 followed by ...c5. He cannot do that now.
Sep-13-16  Marmot PFL: Aside from this game it looks like the US playing for a draw on all the boards. Nakamura could be having another bad day.

HeMateMe: Someone mentioned that if the USA--Canada is a draw, Ukraine must go 4-0 today to get gold. Does anyone know if those are the exact numbers?

HeMateMe: Looks like Bareev is going all out for the full point, here. Nak's game is already a dead draw--playing the percentages!

Thanks for the broadcast CG.com. An amazing tournament.

Sep-13-16  extremepleasure2: What is the name of the male commentator in the official site of the Baku Chess Olympiad?
Sep-13-16  Marmot PFL: doesn't 22 Qe1 just win?
Sep-13-16  Marmot PFL: 22...Nf5 23 Bxf5 e5 24 e6 etc.

HeMateMe: komodo is only giving white 2+ right now. perhaps there may be some drama on the h file? Caruana should have this, if he sees through all of the complications.
Sep-13-16  Geronimo: Exciting game, and a great way to start the day. White seems much stronger than +2, but that h-file doesn't look too friendly. We've all seen bigger upsets, so I wouldn't count black out just yet.

HeMateMe: I like N(2)-f3. White has to keep developing pieces.
