Feb-25-17  Arnold Layne: What about 81.Qf3+?
Feb-25-17  unhandyandy: For a draw? Maybe white was under the delusion she still had winning chances?
Feb-25-17  unhandyandy: Actually that may be a win for black: the supported d pawn is stronger than the unsupported g pawn.
Feb-25-17  Arnold Layne: Ok. I understand.

tamar: Harika's uncertainty with her technique cost her this last game.

Feb-25-17  unhandyandy: tamar: nice observation, but don't forget these are rapid games, and she may have been under particular time pressure at move 57.

tamar: <unhandyandy> Harika still had sufficient time at that point, but she may have thought she was winning without having to calculate.

Just from her body language, once she played 57 Qe1, it looked obvious she did not see a win.

She had the same win two moves later with 59 Qf5+ Ke7 60 Qg5+ Ke6 61 Qh4, and again around move 67, so it looks like she did not instantly recognize the winning pattern.

Like a lot of the top women, (Gunina, for example) she makes technical errors which cost her points.

Feb-26-17  whiteshark: Semi-final; 5:4 mins armageddon game.
