  al wazir: 21.Nc7 was useless. 21. Ba6 Rxa6 22. Ba5 fxe6 would have given white a fighting chance.

But it's no dice: 21. Ba6 Rxa6 22. Ba5 a3 23. bxa3 Rxa5 24. a4 (24. Qxa5 Nc3) Nc3 25. Rd2 Qxb3 26. Nc5 Rxc5 27. Rb2 Qa3+ 28. Ra2 Qxa2#.

OhioChessFan: <FSR> is fission for a compliment on his pun.
Feb-26-21  ajile: Double check is coming on b2 and there is no defense.
Feb-26-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: I am reminded of the short poem On The Ubiquity of Microbes:

Adam
Had 'em

Feb-26-21  Cheapo by the Dozen: I believe <OhioChessFan> has grasped the core of the situation.
Feb-26-21  Ironmanth: Ouch! Thanks, chessgames. Y'all stay safe out there today.
Feb-26-21  carpovius: Adam's family))
Feb-26-21  goodevans: <18.Qe1> wins a piece for white (or to be more accurate, the attack on e4 prevents black from regaining the piece he just lost).

After the obvious <18...Qxc2+ 19.Ka1> black still can't regain the piece, e.g. <19...Nxe6 20.Bd3>.

All good for white then. I sense victory is nigh.

Feb-26-21  goodevans: I've just been looking at 21.Bd3 axb3+ 22.Qa5 as a possible defence for white.

It's very messy and for several moves it's not clear who's going to come out on top.

Feb-26-21  goodevans: Of course not 21.Bd3 axb3+ <22.Ba5?> Qxd1+ 23.Qxd1 Rxa5+ 24.Kb1 Rfa8 ∓
Feb-26-21  dhotts: I love to play over games by super GMs that are short, like Magnus' loss in 19 moves, and Kramnik's opening trick with 12...h3 (can't remember this exact game), so if someone can provide a reference it would be greatly appreciated.
