Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-21-17  beenthere240: I presume that white lost on time.

keypusher: <beenthere240> No, he resigned. He's completely lost after something like 29.Nxf3 Qxf3 30.Qc1 Re2 31.Qf1 Qe4, though I assume White can play better than that.
Jun-23-17  thegoodanarchist: <In the next round I played in-form Mamedyarov. (He recently reached 2800 in classical rating for the first time.) As black, I was slightly worse when I sacrificed the a-pawn to improve the activity of my pieces. Somewhat surprisingly he quickly blundered with a4 allowing the tactical shot Bf3! He could well have played on, but after a long thought he simply resigned. Despite being a tenacious fighter and one of the most aggressive elite players, he clearly doesn’t like to defend miserable positions at all.>

- Carlsen

Jun-25-17  Compound Error: I reckon after Bf3, Carlsen is looking to drive White's queen away with Re2. I wish I knew what time was on each clock?

Jun-25-17  ChessHigherCat: When Magnus says <Somewhat surprisingly he quickly blundered with a4 allowing the tactical shot Bf3!>, he must have meant that white should have played 28. Qe3 instead, right? I don't see how else to prevent Bf3. But then, after 28...Re6, MC still looks a lot better unless I'm missing something.
Jul-18-17  Jutraban Buragohain: The white would have a good game if he takes on knight instead of the rook, by the way.. see the man sitting in front of you!
