DaltriDiluvi: According to the CG player page for Willis H. Failing, he died Nov-23-1939. The date of this correspondence game is listed as 1940. Although Mr. Failing lost the game in 18 moves, I would still say it's well played for a dead man...

GrahamClayton: László Polgár in 5334 Problems, Combinations and Games lists the game as being played in 1920.

DaltriDiluvi: Well, I can see that the date has been corrected now.

MissScarlett: It's been changed, at least.
Jun-29-24  Amarande: <Chess Review, Jan. 1949>, gives 17 Bh6+ (B-R6+) rather than Ba3+, along with annotations about the variation 18 ... Bd2 19 Ng7+ upon which 19 ... Ke7 leads to a mate in four while 19 ... Kf8 20 Qxb7 is an untenable position for Black.

In CG's version, of course, 18 ... Bd2 19 Ng7 would be mate.

There is a Reinfeld book, <Relax With Chess> mentioned; I've read many a Reinfeld book but never that particular one, and this one does not have a Google e-book version so I am unable to quickly verify the score given there.
