Aug-23-19  csmath: When white decides to play for a draw black can do nothing.

This game is more about psychology of Nakamura giving up trying to win any game against Carlsen than anything else. It is also a sad thing to see but I guess he wanted half a point more than anything else.

Aug-24-19  utssb: <csmath> yeah i agree seems like Naka was scared of being in sole last after the round. it'll be fascinating when one or numerous players choose to take on Carlsen's Pelikan instead of avoiding it with the Rossolimo or going into the quieter lines with 7.Nd5 like Caruana does

Or it could be Naka is saying. You are the World Champion 'prove it.' and sets up a position ready to take advantage of anything double-edged Carlsen may feel the need to get involved in.

When good players like this wait for each other to do something this is what we get. Nothing.

Starting to realize that I am the only person who is going to be able to stop Sauron in the context of chess history. 7:01 PM - 18 Nov 2013>

So this is what he meant.

Aug-24-19  ajile: Why are White players still using this line against Carlsen? This is his pet variation where he gets in an early ..e5 with instant equality.

MissScarlett: Do they play the <Richter-Rauzer> at this level any more?

The Richter-Rauzer.

Caruana seems to be the last one from this bunch, he played it v a 2500+ GM a few years ago.

Caruana vs P V Vishnu, 2017

He did not appear to get much out of the opening and won it late in the middle game.
