An Englishman: Good Evening: This game might explain why the 4.Ng5 Two Knights doesn't appear at the highest levels--it's just too baffling. 14.c4 attempts to improve on the only precedent in the CG database (V Kovalev vs A Demchenko, 2017), but Aronian had to know his innovation would lead to a piece sacrifice a few moves later. Can't figure out why, but the next thing I know, the pin on the Ne6 seems to decide the game. Guess Aronian knows what he's doing...
Nov-25-19  Carrots and Pizza: White looks lost, a piece down, after move 17. It's truly amazing that Aronian was able to turn this into a win. Great game. I'm so tired of all the boring Guico Pianos and Queen's Gambit games.
Nov-25-19  areknames: 14.c4 makes little sense to me, why force Black's knight to a square he'd happily jump to anyway? Instead 14.g3 perhaps? But yes, very watchable dynamic struggle.
Mar-03-22  Olivier Pucher: @CarrotsandPizza :

After move 17 White's position actually looks preferable, with threee pawns for the piece, better coordination and a safer king.

Maybe Vidit could have defended better afterward but at the very least White doesn't look lost.
