Stonehenge: See http://www.newportchessclub.net/en/..., there's no proper source.

But I have put that link in her bio.

MissScarlett: Western Mail, Tuesday March 3rd 1908, p.7:

<NEWPORT LADY BEATS DR. LASKER.

Dr. Lasker, the chess champion, visited Newport on Monday evening, and, after lecturing to an interested company, played at the County Cafe twenty-one games against the members of the local club. He lost to Mrs. Houlding, drew with Mr. Woodcock and Mr. Corbett, and won the other eighteen.>

Lasker had a habit of weakening in the presence of ladies, but, on this occcasion, I think he genuinely missed the back rank threat.

<Whyld (1998)> is sketchy on several parts of Lasker's 1908 tour - for Newport, he gives the date as March 1st without further detail, so it's good to be able to correct matters.
