Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-16-20  Ulhumbrus: Black's queen comes to h6 twice. The computer evaluations suggest that the first time 18...Qh3 does not gain much, but after the queen withdraws, Black plays ...f5 and after the exchange of the e4 pawn for the f5 pawn the black queen comes again to h3 by 22...Qh3, this second invasion gains Black a winning advantage.

The computer evaluations help to suggest that 10 Be3? places the bishop very badly indeed on e3 and that it is necessary to place the bishop on d2 so as to keep the square d2 free for the use of a knight.

Leko said ( amongst many other things) that the pawn moves h4 and g3 weakened the king side and that a player like Carlsen was sure to exact the penalty for this.

It may be that Nakamura tried too hard to avoid a draw and to play for a win, and that in at some way his intended plans did not work.
