Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-10-23  catlover: Colorado territory turned out to be a dangerous place for Sergey Kasparov. He must have thought he had a crushing double pin: 10. Bxc6 pxc6, 11. Nxc6 and black would lose the knight. But 10...Nxc6! followed by 11...Nxd4 put Kasparov in a complicated position.

Instead of 14. Nc3, Stockfish suggests:
+0.56 (26 ply) 12.Qd2 Nxc2+ 13.Ke2 Bxe5 14.Be7 Rf7 15.Bc5 d4 16.Na3 d3+ 17.Kf3 Bh3+ 18.Ke4 Bxg2+ 19.Kxd3 Nxa1 20.Qg5 Rf3+ 21.Ke2 Bxh1 22.Qxe5 Rf5 23.Qxc7 e5 24.Bxa7 Bd5 25.b3 Rff8 26.Bc5 Rfe8 27.Be7 e4 28.Bc5

  FSR: Wow! Quite a game!
Nov-10-23  SeanAzarin: A good old-fashioned shootout of a game! White can't do anything about the threat of 20... Kt - K 6 ch with a discovered attack on the Rook.
Nov-10-23  Gouvaneur: An incredible game by Geck0tierchen :) (Grüße von DerSiedler!). Some German chess fans will remember that S. Kasparov allegedly accused his opponent (a strong FIDE Master in his own right) of cheating, which was and still is completely absurd. For more information, see: http://doubleroo.blogspot.com/2011/...
Nov-10-23  SkySports: Interesting Blog post <Gouvaneur>. There are also comments from Nigel Short and Torben Schulze himself.

Plus, the game date is included in the post. I will send a correction slip for it.

offramp: I am nominating this game as <The Pearl of France's Basque Coast Colorado Territory>.

Seconded.

MissScarlett: Unsurprised to learn that <Colorado Territory> is the name of a Western - it stars Joel McCrea. Haven't seen it, but have seen <Colorado> with Roy Rogers and <The Man From Colorado> with Glenn Ford. I think if you've seen about a hundred Westerns, you've sort of seen them all. That said, I must have seen over a thousand.

OhioChessFan: Crazy game. 14. Nc3 is the inexplicable blunder. No idea what White thought was so urgent about that to leave his Bishop hanging.
