FSR: I must have submitted this game because it is an extremely rare mate by en passant, but I forgot to add it to my collection on that subject.

FSR: <Dionysius1> Yes. I added it to my Game Collection: En passant mates last night.

Dionysius1: I only ask, because for the life of me I can't see an en passant move in the whole game, or even a mate. What is it I'm missing?

FSR: <Dionysius1> I don't know. Can you see the entire game? It concluded with White playing the pawn move 36.c2-c4, and Black capturing that pawn en passant (using his pawn on b4), which discovered checkmate from Black's bishop on b5.

perfidious: <FSR>, the game ends at 17....Nxc5.

FSR: <perfidious> <Dionysius1> There is an error in the PGN, which has 18.Nc6+ rather than the correct 18.Nxc6+. I can still see the whole game, but obviously some people, including you, cannot. Correction slip submitted.

Dionysius1: Thanks - I see it all now. Wonderful:when I get going on my collection of games that make me laugh I'll be sure to add it. It's a great jolt, isn't it?

FSR: <Dionysius1> En passant mates are always fun - and rare, evidently even more so than mates by castling. The classic G Gundersen vs A H Faul, 1928 is easily the most famous and most picturesque example of the en passant mate.
