John Saunders: The score as shown here currently is as per other databases (CB, BritBase, etc) but on returning to the primary source (CHESS, January 1966, Vol.31/498-9, p160) I found a mistake at move 37.

After the (correct) 36...c4 the score should read 37. a3 Qc5 38. Rh4 Qc6 39. Qd4 Rxe4 40. Rxe4 Rxe4 41. Qd2 Re6 42. Qd8+ Re8 43. Qd2 Qc5 44. Qh6 Qf8 45. Qg5 Rb8 46. Qf4 h6 47. Re1 Rc8 48. Qe5 Qc5 49. Qf4 Qxa3 50. Re7 Rd8 51. Rxf7 Rd1+ 52. Kh2 Qd6 0-1.

As regards the erroneous 37 Qa7 version of the score, whoever input the game originally would have been puzzled to see the next move given in CHESS Magazine as 49...QxP in a position where no pawn was en prise to the queen and probably ended the input process at that point without going back to check for a possible input error.

I'll fix it on BritBase when I upload a file for the 1965/66 Hastings event (which will probably be quite soon).

  MissScarlett: For the sake of posterity, the incorrect version was: <37. Qa7 Qd6 38. Rh4 Qc6 39. Qd4 Rxe4 40. Rxe4 Rxe4 41. Qd2 Re6 42. Qd8+ Re8 43. Qd2 Qc5 44. Qh6 Qf8 45. Qg5 Rb8 46. Qf4 h6 47. Re1 Rc8 48. Qe5 Qc5 49. Qf4 0-1>
