Kibitzer's Corner
Dec-07-23  Brenin: Black, a P down, seems to have the weak point g6 covered, but 23 Bxh6 gxh6 24 Bxg6+ Qxg6 26 Re7+ forces Qg7 29 Rxg7+ Kxg7, giving White Q+2P for R+B. Black's exposed K makes the win easy.

PawnSac: < Brenin: Black ..seems to have ..g6 covered, but 23 Bxh6 >

yea that was the first thing I looked at from the front page. The rooks have to be connected to get a discovered attack, but the only forcing move when developing the bishop is the sac. It opens up the 7th rank. Then taking it a step further, I revisited the pin, then put it together. but I only looked as far as the rook check and stopped.

perfidious: The point on g6 appears to be held, but that is quickly proven an illusion: Black has no antidote to the interpolation 23.Bxh6, after which his game collapses due to 23....gxh6 24.Bxg6+ and the deadly intervention of the rook on e7.
