offramp: Black, at move 15, had two sets of doubled pawns.

There they are, are still there at move 37.

TBH, both sides played the rook ending extremely well. Praggers tried everything to defend the position but v.Foreest managed to get the point. Tough game!

Jan-18-22  paavoh: <... two sets of doubled pawns...> Is there a name for such structures - I know about the Irish center but this is some sort of half-breed.
Jan-18-22  Ulhumbrus: If White can answer 10...e5 with 11 f3, 10...0-0 instead may be more flexible.

HeMateMe: Well, black accepted those ugly pawns. He had to live with it.

Indeed !

I would've thought that 3.Bc4 was an error - one very typical of an inexperienced club player (since Black can now gain tempi on the piece by moving his center Pawns forward). If 3.Bc4 really is a viable concept... then it could prove a refutation of the Sicilian Defense (unbelievably).

I'm not sure on this move order but 1.e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. Bc4 has been seen moderately. Seems a reasonable attempt at, I guess, side stepping Najdorf possibilities. With white setting up an Italian like structure. Played a bit by Luke McShane.

FSR: An amazing opening to play at top level. In my experience, most players of 2...Nc6 3.Bc4 are rated below 1800. And van Foreest wins with it! Adhiban recommends this line in his new Lifetime Repertoire course on Chessable, but he varies with 9.Nc3!?, sacking another pawn - with check!
