Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-26-25  Straclonoor: Early appeared (spanish game, exchange variation!) 7-pieces rook ending with a- and c- pawns.

Curiously that Mikhail Botvinnik wrote special article 'Rook endings with f- and h- (a- & c-) pawns' in 50-70s. David Bronstein definitely read it, Evgeni Vasiukov - not

<38....Kd5! 39.f4 Re6??> mistake. Rook need to one of three things: a) block the pawn - 39....Rf5 b) tie up the pawn - 39....Re4 c) hold the back - 39....Re8 It's all.

So 39....Re4 40.Rg5+ Kd4 41.f5 c4 42.f6 c3 43.Rg2 Re1+ 44.Kh2 a5 45.Rf2 Re8!! (only move to win!) 46.Rf4+ Ke3 47.Rc4 Kd3 48.f7 Ra8 49.Rf4 c2 50.Rf1 a4 51.Kg2 a3 52.f8Q Rxf8 53.Rxf8 c1Q 54.Rd8+ Ke2 55.Re8+ Qe3 56.Rxe3+ Kxe3 57.Kg3 a2 58.Kg4 Ke4 59.Kg5 a1Q 60.Kg6 Qc3 61.Kf7 Kf5 62.Ke7 Qc7+ 63.Ke8 Kf6 64.Kf8 Qf7#
