Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-08-23  goodevans: The Black Q's sortie starting with 25...Qh4 and 26...Qxh2 was a folly. White's response showed straight away that she needed to keep guard of d8.

31.Rc7 was a particularly nice shot and whilst 31...Rxa6 was obviously a blunder, Black was completely lost by then (e.g. 31...Rf8 32.Qe7).

Mar-10-23  paavoh: I was wondering about the correctness of 7.- Bd6. After that, it seemed to me that White was pushing Black against the ropes, so to speak.

fredthebear: This is the only game in the database with 7...Bd6. 8.c5 gains a tempo and gives White an edge.

sbevan: As a follow up to <goodevans> excellent comments, Chess 24 has this analysis:

26…f4! and it would be anyone’s game, but instead Ruslan was tempted by 26…Qxh2?, when after 27.Qd6! Korobov was suddenly winning. Play continued 27…Qg1+ 28.Ke2 Qxc1.

Here 29.Qxc7? would lose the queen to 29…Nxd4+, but 29.Rxc6! was crushing.

The knight was defending the d8-square, and now the threat is mate-in-1 with Qd8#. There’s no defense, and after 29…Qb2+ 30.Kf3 Rf7 31.Rc7 Rxa6 32.Rxc8+ Ruslan resigned, with checkmate arriving next move
