Yes it would have. Vacating e7 with check give Black's K an escape square and allows 28...Qxe6. Black would likely have won with that.

Better still though would have been 27...Qd4+ 28.Ke2 Qb2+ 29.Kxe3 d4+ with mate in a few moves.

I thought the R-sac 26...Rd2+ was part of a brilliant plan. Turns out it was just some desperate flailing before throwing in the towel.
