An Englishman: Good Morning: Incorrect score or failing brain cells? White had many opportunities to play Bxf8 which looks winning but did not.

I played through the game quickly and didn't notice any point where Bxf8... would have given White as big an advantage as he obtained after 45.Bxc7.

An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Thanks for the feedback, <FM>. What about 39.Bxf8,Qxf8; 40.Rd3+ followed by 41.Qd7+ as an alternative? White has an extra pawn, plus a Queen and Rook with bad intentions toward the Black King. Would surprise me if the silicon monsters don't like that.

If we're looking at the same position, I see four pawns a side and ...Rc7 as an apparent way for Black to solidify the queenside. I'd agree that White is better and wouldn't be surprised if the silicon monsters concur.

The question I raised, though, is whether White could have gotten a bigger advantage by regaining the exchange earlier than move 45. I doubt it, being that the game continuation enabled White to reach a winning queen and pawn ending.
