MarcusBierce: Is this the “mouse-slip” loss?
Mar-20-24  EvanTheTerrible: I'm glad that they actually played a game this time instead of shuffling for 100 moves. Carlsen definitely had the upper hand in this one, but Niemann did have counterplay and ultimately a draw in hand until he mouse-slipped at the end. I hope they'll eventually make up and be able to play more, but I know that hope is misplaced.
Mar-20-24  EvanTheTerrible: Don't mice the hand that beads you?
Mar-20-24  BxChess: Was the mouseslip 92. Kf6 instead of Kg6?

It must have been. <92...Kf6??> simply loses the pawn on h5, leaving White with a technical win. It's still a theoretical draw after <92...Kg6>.

It's safe to say that, on occasion, the mouse speaks for itself now too apparently : P

piltdown man: I hate stupid palindrome puns.
Dec-17-24  Teyss: Hands up who found <goodevans>'s post funny. ✋

Still, having a soft spot for palindromes I like the pun. However did I miss something or isn't the Magnus "Deus" Carlsen - Hans "Showoff" Niemann affair closed now?

Not closed, merely simmering.

fredthebear: Niemann's mouth is closed on the matter.
Dec-17-24  BxChess: In retrospect (get it), probably better to let sleeping dogs lie.
