Sally Simpson: Proof I sometimes play endings. Twice I offered David a draw in this game, twice it was refused. Actually a draw was not good to either of us we were both on 5 pts after 6 rounds and someone had finished and was on 6 pts.

Then here....

58...f6 was played and I stopped offering draws. I tried to commiserate Dave but it came out all wrong.

Regarding the opening. I knew 4.Bc4 was wrong but I thought why not threaten mate in one, it will probably be the only threat I have in this game.

Sally Simpson: Not quite, something like about him feeling silly after refusing those draws because that is how I would have felt. But I have never lost to me so I've no idea how annoying losing to me is.

I bought him a pint, we were OK after that and if memory serves correctly he has not bought me one back. That was 44 years ago. (anybody know where he lives?)
