Atterdag: The huge experience of Caruana comes through. It turns out he is right in his assessment that progress on the king's wing is more important than weakening the queen's wing. Careful manoeuverings lead to victory.

HeMateMe: There must be a mating net if white plays 45. QxN.
Aug-22-24  goodevans: <HeMateMe> No mating net. Simply no rush to grab the piece when Black can't save both N and R anyway. White takes a move to avoid even the slightest whiff of counterplay.
Aug-24-24  Voice without Words: Caruana is warrior of attacking
Aug-26-24  ex0duz: What's wrong with 45.Qxb7? Isnt that a free piece?

What's Fabi worried about? We're they both in time trouble at that point and playing insta moves or something and he wanted to shut down any counter play from black and just keep it simple since he thought he was winning already?

See the post by Goodevans. Level-headed play by Caruana offering Abdusattorov a chance to resign.

The move 40.Rd1(!) was possibly missed by Black (and me going over it - I'd never move that Rook from that open h-file, that is my cheapo chances file.)

The joy being 40...d4 is answered by 41.Qe5+ and that Rook will going back to h1 after 42.Qf6.
