An Englishman: Good Evening: White's position looks ridiculously passive after 8.e3; less than 30 moves later, he finishes off a spectacular combination with 34.Rh7#. Unbelievable.
Sep-21-24  Olavi: After 8.e3 the White position has the potential energy of a Rubistein Nimzo, and having retained the option of castling long he plays according to classics like Rubinstein vs Teichmann, 1908

Botvinnik vs Alatortsev, 1934

True, the bishop was outside the chain in those games.

Sally Simpson: That 8.e3 pawn eventually marched up the board, moves 29-30-31, kicking a Bishop, a Rook out of the way before eventually sacrificing itself on e7 to allow the Queen sac.

From move 26 Prohaszka was playing on increment but even with 24 hours on the clock I doubt if by then the game could have been saved.

Prohaszka allows the mate, usually this is a nod at that level to your opponent for playing a good game.
