Honza Cervenka: 29.f3 was a mistake leading to fatal weakening of g3 but it was not the decisive mistake, as black slipped with 34...f5? (34...Qh6! -+) allowing white to turn the table with 35.Bh3!, where black has nothing better than 35...Rxg1 36.Rxg1 Qf6 (36...Qd6 37.Rg5! +-) 37.Rxg8+ Kxg8 38.Qg3+ Kh7 39.f4! with huge advantage of white. But white missed this chance and lost the game.

MissScarlett: If you didn't like today's pun, be sure to come back tomorrow - you'll hate that one.

It's going to be a long year, I fear.

Jan-02-25  Teyss: Happy new year everyone!

<Honza Cervenka> highlighted the key moments. Here is the position after 35.Bh3 Rxg1 36.Rxg1 Qf6 37.Rxg8+ Kxg8 38.Qg3+ Kf7 39.f4 at which stage SF gives +1.4 at 35 ply.

After 39...exf4 40.Qxf4 Qxc3 41.e5 Qxa5 42.e6+ Bxe6 43.dxe6+ Ke7 there is an unbalanced endgame where White has B vs 3Ps but more BPs will fall.

User: zisa16742029 is an unusual CG member: never posts, only submits puns and games. For number geeks like me, the username is the multiplication of prime numbers 127*241*547. Very handy when you forgot your login ID: you just need to remember these three numbers and multiply them.

<FSR> is into numbers also in some way, and I had a head for mental arithmetic before even starting school. I do not recall it, but have been told I would go to the grocery and keep a running tally of the items purchased.

Jan-05-25  FM David H. Levin: Hi, <Teyss>. I was wondering whether you've memorized a bunch of multiplication facts involving prime numbers, you use an app or other program for factoring large numbers, you factor them in your head, or something else.
Jan-05-25  Teyss: Hi David H. Levin,

I'm not smart enough to memorise all this and not that much of a geek to have an app ;) I just go online, there are different sites.

What arouse my curiosity is the long number, was wondering if there was something remarkable about it, for instance the power of a simple number or 11*13*19*etc. with a succession of prime numbers. Turns out there isn't.
