he's missing some important tactics. Was there any indication how he's feeling in game interviews? hmmm. It's hard to tell if he's in a slump or was in a hot run previously, and is now settling back to his actual strength.

Jan-26-25  belgradegambit: This variation by white is the Kopec Sicilian after its inventor Danny Kopec I have personal knowledge of this because he beat me years ago with this weapon.

perfidious: While Danny certainly played the system far more than anyone else, Westerinen and Canal tried the idea before the mid 1970s.

saffuna: Listening to live commentary I heard the reason 28. Qxd5 was better than 28. Rxd5. Had something to do with checks from the black queen.

Anyone know why?

saffuna: Maybe 28. Rxd5 allows 28...Qf2, which attacks the a7 Rook and threatens mate on g2?

perfidious: <saffuna>, your line 28. Rxd5 Qf2 is winning, but 28....Qg3+ is mate next move.
