Apr-17-25  Obvious Troll: Did Royal's girlfriend break up with him two minutes before this game started? He played like a 1500-rated player here.

Sally Simpson: The theory is he mixed up his prep when playing 9...Bxc3+ instead of 9...d6. which has been played before but does not have a good record.

Opening Explorer (9.Bxc3+ P.3 and L3...now L4.)

He may have slipped it in thinking, no harm done, to get Maghsoodloo out of his prep and missed how good 12.Ba3 was. After that the roof fell in.

Apr-18-25  Obvious Troll: Sounds plausible.

offramp: <The Case of Mr Parham>, that was a short story that John Collier writ called <The Case of Mr Pelham>, and Alfred Hitchcock made it a short film, and someone made the story in to a film, <"The Man Who Haunted Himself">, with the great Roger Moore.
