Sep-30-25  Andrew Chapman: After b3, did black suddenly realise that he couldn't take on e4, because of Bf3 trapping the queen? Position hardly looks lost to me, though engine does say it's +3.

perfidious: I prefer White in the final position but cannot see a decisive edge for him to the tune of +3.
Oct-01-25  FM David H. Levin: If the idea behind 24...Qa4 was to answer 25. Rdf1 by 25...Qxe4, then 25. b3! upset the applecart by diverting Black's queen so she could no longer control e4. Then on any queen move, 26. Rdf1 would win the f-pawn, after which I don't see how Black's kingside could be held together.

Perhaps 24...fxe4 was a better try, although opening the f-file is not exactly appealing for Black.

perfidious: That makes sense and is a much more exploitative method of playing against f5, as Black can do little in any case.

<FM DHL....Perhaps 24...fxe4 was a better try, although opening the f-file is not exactly appealing for Black.>

In these KID cum Benoni pawn structures, ceding e4 and all those light squares is not the first plan that would spring to mind if I were Black.
