He must have assumed that Poetsch had taken with the knight instead of looking.

I have seen two wins of his that are over 270 moves. They are not worth reproducing as (i) they are internet blitz and (ii) the reason they are so long is that in both Hagen Poetsch gains a huge material advantage against a bare king, then manoeuvres around moving one pawn every 50 moves. Very very dull.
