Sep-17-05  SnoopDogg: Is this guy even titled? For one I don't even think he should have been writing chess books nonetheless giving lessons. Its ironic he wrote Chess for Juniors when he is charged with sexual assault of kids. What a loser.
Nov-19-05  pazzed paun: IN the past people have admitted to lying and falsely accusing other people of such things
Feb-07-06  mack: Oh lovely, more good publicity for chess:

Feb-10-06  lemmonrober: I took lessons from him when i was a kid in 1987-1988. He did seem like a wierdo, he lived in his parents house and he was single. thank god he did not try anything with me.
Feb-11-06  mack: Cripes. Are you in the database, lemmonrobber?
Feb-13-06  lemmonrober: am i in the database??? what do you mean?
Feb-13-06  waddayaplay: the chessgames.com database....
Feb-14-06  lemmonrober: no im not in the database, why?
Feb-15-06  RookFile: I kind of remember Snyder, I think he wrote an article for chess life about 1. e4 c5 2. b3.
Apr-21-06  KlausJunge: Snyder is/was a self made millionaire through chess and author of the top selling chess books. Sounds like a "shakedown" big time. Read about it at: http://www.chessclub.com/chessfm/ch...

Jun-02-07  pazzed paun: the website for chess for children says his out of print books are going to come out in new editions. Does anybody know if that is true or just hype?
Oct-19-07  pazzed paun: does anyone know where the new second edition copies of his books can purchased at a steep discount?
Dec-20-08  Everyone: He wrote a book for me:

<Chess for Everyone: A Complete Guide for the Beginner>

barnesandnoble synopsis:

Based on the author's bestselling 'Chess for Juniors', this book is for <everyone>! who wants to understand and enjoy playing chess.

Dec-20-08  Jim Bartle: Then I sure hope you purchased a copy!
Dec-26-08  Everyone: While there's life, there's hope.
Jan-03-09  Caissanist: A former student of Snyder's, by the name of Andrius Kulikauskas, offers his memories in the comments section here: http://theyshouldbedead.blogspot.co.... Kulikauskas was apparently one of the students with whom Snyder "tried something". Nonetheless, he is sympathetic and says that Snyder was a very positive influence on many young peoples' lives, including his own. What a waste.
Oct-03-09  wuvwater: I am so sick of seeing his reviews of his own books, under various aliases, on amazon.com.

Note: If a random review on a chess book (not by Snyder) mentions one of the books from Snyder's junior series - it's a fake review. Simply check the reviewer's other reviews, and every book or most books not by Snyder, mentions Snyder junior series.

Just a lame attempt to try and get people to buy this creep's books. But it doesn't matter since the books are OOP, but the reviews still remain unfortunately.

A fugitive chess teacher and chess master, who spent more than 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to two misdemeanor counts of unlawful sexual contact with a child, has reportedly been caught in Belize. He was wanted for parole violations and had been sought for more than a year. ...
According to a Web site called 7 News Belize, which reported his capture, Snyder was teaching chess in primary schools under the name Augustin Rios and had married a police woman. The site said that Snyder had moved to Belize in September 2008, just after his release from prison.
Mar-13-10  Roger Krueger: So how do we get the creep's name off the variation (1. e4 c5 2 b3) he so magnanimously named after himself?

Folks who engage in such ridiculous, shameless self-promotion always seem to end up doing more serious dirt as well.

eternaloptimist: Finally this stupid crazy scumbag has gotten what he deserves...12 years to life in prison. He was sentenced yesterday. He didn't have enough sense to learn from his previous ~1 1/2 year sentence. Actually, I used to be a coach @ 2 chess clubs @ elementary schools in eastern Oklahoma, & 1 of the books that I used was his book "chess for juniors". It's an excellent book, & the best chess book for kids IMO. Although, if I ever get back into teaching chess in the schools again, I definitely won't use that book anymore; I will use the other book that I used to use - "a primer of chess" by capablanca.

eternaloptimist: Actually, I stand corrected; he served a 2 year sentence instead of ~1 1/2 year sentence. Out of curiosity, do any of u guys know of any other well known chess players that have been in jail or prison? I know that claude bloodgood & kasparov (for opposing the Russian leaders) r 2 examples of this.
