The chess games of Fruit (Computer)

FRUIT (COMPUTER)
(born 2003)

Its programmer is Fabien Letouzey. It is related to Cyclone (Computer). Fruit uses the "null move heuristic" in which all variations are pruned that stem from positions so strong for the player to move, that even if they "make a null move" ("pass" the move, which is of course illegal) still leaves that player with a substantially winning position. Special programming disables the null-move heuristic in situations where zugzwang may be relevant. (1).

Toga (Computer) is a modification of Fruit, using node extension recaptures only at principle variation nodes, multiprocessor support, and other features.(2)
