Aug-18-09  RuyLupit: Congrats sa PARA team 6 Golds, 1 silver. ASTIG!
Aug-19-09  pulsar: <gmjoey> Congratulations for the excellent performance of our PARA Team. Surely your coaching and support helped our players a lot.

Salamat at God bless!

Ok, all the best in the Caloocan team event on Sept 5-6 kaya di ka makakasama sa simul kung Sept 5.

Kibitz ka rin sa Darwin page since you know him first hand. Interesting yung share ni sugardom that he doesnt read chessbooks.

Does he use laptop/chess engines instead?

Aug-20-09  dunkenchess: Good job! Keep it up!.
Aug-20-09  kramrich: hi pinoymaster,

thanks sir! sana maganda ilaro namin lahat...i'm not so sure about that...basta ang alam ko sir, darwin trained under cardoso for a year or 2 at least...bobby ang gave him cd's everything about the scnadinavian defense...he seems to be well prepared in some systems (c4,nf3 and d4 set-ups..) im pretty sure, he's well tooled na din sir...si dableo sir ang alam kong di halos nagaaral ng opening kaya medyo nabitin n din ang bid for a GM title...sayang nga eh, isang GM norm na lang...

Aug-20-09  rjsolcruz: dunkenchess, worldfunph, ruylupit,

many thanks sa greetings. sabi ng iba ay better late than never pero sabi ng lolo ko, never hurry especially in endgame.

maraming klase din ang lechon dun at maraming claimers na sila ang best but c n t is the best we sampled. young at hearts ang items nila, yung iba ay malasa nga pero matigas naman laman like the talisay. the best din longanisang maikli. pero mas may the best pa!!!

pinoymaster77,
nadulas pala dila ko! starstruck kc ako kay gmjoey, eh. it's not in my wildest chess dreams to jam with him.

gm joey, ms nanie and para team especially abe and gigi, congrats. you have made us proud na proud. im syre na masaya kaming lahat d2, meralco and bw, dahil once upon a time or minsan isang araw, ay nagkasama tayo. iba na ang may pinagsamahan.

i hope you can join us at ipahawak nyo sa amin ang medals sa sept 5 sa gm torre fundraising simul.

Aug-20-09  rjsolcruz: pinoymaster77,

ps about my son. he is progressing well and i do have high hopes for him in chess. in the 4-team para games last july 11, he won over newly minted gold medalist abe peligro and capitalized on a blunder by catolos to win best in board 5 on 2 wins and 1 loss to spawn2, while in the gm joey simul in meralco, he was able to convince gm joey to a draw on account of an equal middlegame with both their rooks already out of the playing court and 1 or 2 minor piece din yata.

and to date, he has already won over 16 adults (over 18 yrs old), including me.

he also got a draw in simuls with nm bagamasbad and nm villanueva, both reaching endgames, and another draw with nm vasquez, also in a simul in a game where he could have won but did not see the winning line with nm vasquez the one offering the draw. he has a lucky win vs nm vasquez in praktis and could have drawn with nm alisangco and nm gatus in another simul. madami kasi kaming simul sa meralco, eh.

he is sched with nm carag tomorrow for some endgame lesson and i plan to bring him to im cardoso on sat.

Aug-20-09  pinoymaster77: Hi Rolly,
Of course part of kiddie/youth players' progress is parental support.

As I occasionally visit some of the chess events, I see a number of doting fathers or mothers nakaalalay patiently sa kanilang kids.

Kelangan din ng konting investments with the trainer's fees, gas, food and time + chess engines, post game analysis and games compilations.

Aug-20-09  pinoymaster77: May balita ba on the 2 other golds at stake at Para games?

Pabalik na ba gmjoey and our Para team heroes.

Up next is QC support for their WCC campaign, hope GM Torre is also sponsored to join as second. Dalawa naman sila legit QC residents nila gmjoey.

Aug-20-09  pinoymaster77: kramrich, nabasa ko further details (while reviewing previous Malibay articles)about that Sept 5 - 6 tourney, Echiverri Cup pala yan and the rules state puede magsama ng isang master basta ma-meet yung 2050 average.

Ok, mapapasabak NM Segarra sa top board diyan if some of the teams are spearheaded by a GM or IM. Pero lumalaban naman siya sa GMA Cup level so hasa na rin against that level of competition.

Usually and pointmakers nasa boards 3 and 4, kayo na bahala dun he he!

Aug-23-09  pinoymaster77: kramrich, we can discuss further on Dableo in Darwin's page his contemporary. Kasalukuyabng pukpukan sa Dato Arthur...
Aug-23-09  pinoymaster77: Would like to confirm if gmjoey decided to skip on the Datu Arthur in Malaysia, his name is not included in the round 1 results?
Aug-24-09  pinoymaster77: Hi kramrich, ok noted yung nuances on 2050 average sa team events.

Watchout also for the ex-Shell Active
players, yun nag champion sa SM Southmall na sila Mariano III, Jan Garcia and R.Salcedo, nalimutan ko name ng board 1 player nila for now. Pero ang pointmakers nila nasa Boards 3 and 4 with Garcia and Salcedo who won board honors.

Think kilala mo rin sila C. Arroyo and Co.
Aug-25-09  rjsolcruz: re: PARA Games

I got news from Ms. Nanie that our PARA Chess Team won a total of 15 GOLD MEDALS.

A big big CONGRATS !!!

Aug-25-09  epistle: 15 GOLD MEDALS...!!! WOW...!

congratz to our PARA TEAM...deserving ang pagka panalo nyo...!!! expected ko na yan...kasi magagaling talaga kayo...

Aug-25-09  pinoymaster77: Congratulations to our Para chess team! We're proud of you!!

Another team pala sir yung Customs team, their team members I saw at SM Southmall were Ali Branzuela at Board 1, a varsity chess coach at Bd 2, Aquino at Bd3 (he beat Garcia in final rd) and Gary Legaspi (lanky with glasses) at Bd 4.

Isa pa yung D' Wars chess team, usually sa south ata sila campaign, yung Montoya ang nag top board honors sa Board 2, walang talo in 7 rds.

Aug-26-09  spawn2: good morning guys,

saw gm joey logged in sa ICC at 5:01 am this morning. Sabi ko sa sarili ko Wow! Sobrang aga yata but on second thought baka galing sa jogging or magjajogging para makundisyon ang katawan. ang sarap siguro maging part ng isang chess team who will be sent abroad to represent the Philippines. Tapos me suporta ng govt and private insitutions.

Nakahouse kayo sa isang bahay sa Baguio, train for 3 months, nagkalat ang chess books at laptop computers na me latest version ng Fritz at Rybka plus internet connections. Jogging sa umaga, then breakfast, tapos aral, then lunch, siyesta for 2 hours, then aral na naman kasabay ng merienda hanggang dinner na. After dinner aral uli hanggang 10 pm. Tapos 1 hour discussions regarding sa mga pinag-aralan that day..Yum yum!

Aug-26-09  pinoymaster77: spawn2, thanks for the update and your
'visualization'.

Sana magka time din magkibitz dito gmjoey. Also on the final Para games results, and his next tournament. Sali ba siya sa GMA Cup?
