Mar-28-13  Abdel Irada: <Stonehenge>: Thank you for the bio expansion. A perfect example of what I meant about "members' contributions."

Curious. On my browser, I see exactly the same photo.

And isn't that Newman (from "Seinfeld") over on the right?

AylerKupp: <Abel Irada> and others. Odd. I see the intended photo on my browser. Oh well, try this other link: https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hpho...

But I don't know what you mean about Newman on the right.

AylerKupp: It would be nice to put up one of her pictures in her bio. Does anyone know how to do that? <Abel Irada>'s last picture would make a great candidate, keeping up with the chess theme, don't you think?

Stonehenge: Thanks for the pic <CG> :)
Mar-29-13  John Abraham: If any man plays chess with her I think it will be hard to focus on the game :) Very beautiful lady and very intelligent

AylerKupp: <John Abraham> Thanks for the pictures but are you sure that the first one is her? Certainly a different look, and I didn't know that she was an artist in addition to being a photographer. Plus, pictures 4 and 5 remind me of the actress Katie Holmes; what do you think?

I know what you mean about distractions. I am a wine aficionado and I once played in an outdoors tournament at the old Paul Masson winery in Saratoga, CA. My table was right next to the building where the wine was fermenting and I remember that I couldn't concentrate at all. Kind of like second hand smoke. I don't remember the result of the game but I suspect that I lost it.

And I see that someone actually listened to me (I always find that strange because of how seldom it happens) and added a very nice picture of her to her bio. Whoever you are, thanks!

Mar-29-13  John Abraham: <AylerKupp> Honestly I don't know. All I did was search "Anastasia Karlovich" on Google Images and that was one of the pics that came up. (Apparently "Anastasia", "Anastasiya", and "Anastazia" are all different ways of spelling her first name). Either way that pic does resemble her, probably from when she was younger

AylerKupp: <John Abraham> You have to be a little discriminating when you Google someone and specify 'Images'. For example, I Googled "Anastasiya Karlovich" and these are some of the pictures I got:

http://en.chessbase.com/portals/4/f...

http://mateinmoscow.files.wordpress...

http://www.chessdom.com/wp-content/...

http://www.chessbase.com/news/2011/...

http://www.web64.net/rssblog/files/...

And I'm reasonably sure that none of these pictures is of her. Well, the last two might be but, if they are, they are really old pictures. :-)

Seriously, one of the problems is that, since she is a professional photographer, many of the pictures shown are <taken> by her, not <of> her.

Mar-29-13  John Abraham: Eh, I think you're just splitting hairs at this point. It's obviously pretty clear that none of those pictures you linked to are her, but I'm guessing you jumped over the first few hundred images or so when you google imaged her name :)

Mar-30-13  Kaspablanca: Since i made the comment about her short bio kibitzers got interested more on her, thanks all for the pictures and stonehenge for the bio expansion, now the only thing remaining is her notable games.

AylerKupp: <John Abraham> Sorry about that, my comment was meant tongue-in-cheek but I see now that it didn't come out that way. Yes, of course, I had to cherry pick the pictures whose links I posted and I skipped many of the first ones shown (I'm not sure if there were hundreds but there were a lot). And thanks for the 2 modeling type pics. I didn't know that she did any modeling but I'm not surprised, she seems to be a multi-talented woman in many diverse fields.
Mar-31-13  dehanne: I wonder whether it was written in Miss Karlovich's contract to wear something different every day for the press conference :)
Mar-31-13  waustad: <John_Abraham>Links to the second pic have disappeared from this page before.
Mar-31-13  John Abraham: <waustad> Don't shoot the messenger. I didn't take that photo, I didn't pose for that photo, and in no way am I endorsing nudity beyond a genuine appreciation for the feminine physique. Chess is a gentleman's game, after all

AylerKupp: <dehanne> I don't think that it's that unusual for either a woman or a man to wear a different outfit on successive days. For example, have you noticed that Carlsen has been wearing a different outfit every day also?
Mar-31-13  John Abraham: To be fair, I don't think anyone notices anything Carlsen wears except for his mother who picks his outfits

Of course we do! He is a top model.
