Mar-12-08  WillC21: <dx9293> Hate to belabor this point here, but I'm trying to understand where you're coming from...

Don't Topalov and Cheparinov admittedly analyze openings out until the endgame? Didn't Kramnik say that when Topalov has white it is almost a given that Topalov will get a better position out of the opening due to Topalov's unbelievable opening work/preparation? Hasn't Cheparinov cooked up like ten zillion novelties for Topalov since he joined Topalov's team?

Isn't Kramnik the one who has taken the Catalan, Berlin, and Petroff and made them nearly unbreakable?

Now, with Kamsky, I agree he could use some opening work, especially given his upcoming match. He knows this, he stated so in a recent interview. He used to have a sufficient level of opening preparation, now he just needs to address this facet of the game again.

Mar-18-08  nezhmet: I heard reports that Nip's coach paid the match opponents to play the matches. Is that disturbing rumor true? Yuck.
Mar-18-08  timhortons: naka in his blog mention about nips calculated manuever to get the title
Mar-26-08  dasp3edd3m0n: I think this article sufficiently sums up the conflict at hand: http://nezhmet.wordpress.com/2008/0...
Apr-18-08  Resignation Trap: Nip will give a ten-board simul on national television on <Live With Regis & Kelly> on Monday morning, April 21: http://main.uschess.org/content/vie... .
Apr-21-08  Whitehat1963: Playing right now on <Live with Regis & Kelly>.
Apr-21-08  Strongest Force: Yeah,, Resignation, i am watching Nip on the Regis show as i write. The kid waved to everybody near the beginning of the show and then started pounding 10 fish as Regis began his usual BS.
Apr-21-08  Whitehat1963: <started pounding 10 fish> One of those "fish" is the armed forces chess champ. I'm sure he's not bad, certainly better than most of us here.
Apr-21-08  Strongest Force: Whitehat1963, i missed that; i'll try to check that out...must be dude in West Point uniform. He did have a rather smug self-assured look on his face. :)
Apr-21-08  Strongest Force: The kid has some stuff on 7th ave against military dude.
Apr-21-08  Whitehat1963: 9 wins and 1 draw.
Apr-21-08  Whitehat1963: Beat the West Point kid.
Apr-21-08  Strongest Force: The kid stomped that military champ. :)
Apr-22-08  fromoort: Does anyone know if these games have been / will be uploaded here?
Apr-22-08  Riverbeast: The military champ, as far as I know, isn't even a master....FM Emory Tate used to be armed services champion, but for the most part they tend to be weak masters or experts

One year, I think the armed services champion was an 'A' player!

Apr-25-08  jon01: Here is a fun video of him playing a simultan against 10 players and afterwards giving an interview to the hosts.

Sep-29-08  Whitehat1963: He's just okay now, but how good will he be in three years? If he's a GM by then, look out, we may have another Karjakin/Radjabov/Carlsen. Don't hold your breath, but we'll see what happens. I'd like to see more of his games.
Jan-31-09  cruiseyleemorph: That Armed forces guy was only rated 1400 odd!!1 I checked the armed forces championships and that guy wasnt even in the top 10! He finished 19th 2 years ago and I cant see him in the 2008 tournament, shame they have to lie in these tv shows. LARRY R LARKINS won it 2 years ago and is rated 2100 ish,

Anyway I played Nicholas 3 years and a bit back, I think he was 7/8. I won but he fought well. Here it is.

Mar-01-09  WhiteRook48: I have never played this person.
Mar-10-09  WhiteRook48: Happy birthday!!
Jun-11-09  MrMelad: This guy can be the revenge of all NN in history!! :)
Oct-05-09  theagenbiteofinwit: I can't wait to see what NM NN accomplishes when he's in his teens.
Apr-16-10  rapidcitychess: Absolutely nothing. I played him when he was six. He beat me, but he doesn't play any more.

After that inferno, no wonder if he stops playing for a while.
