(born Nov-08-1933, died Oct-26-1974, 40 years old) Germany

Werner Golz was an East German master. In 1958, he won the East Berlin City Championship. In the East German Championship, he finished 2nd in 1960 and 1964, 3rd in 1968. In tournaments, he was =1st at both Leipzig 1959 and the Kurt Richter Memorial (East Berlin 1970). He also represented East Germany in the 1960 and 1964 Olympiads.

Werner Golz worked in publishing as a proofreader and later as an assistant editor. From 1970, he was a freelance journalist.
