 | | WannaBe: How come there isn't a slash between AC and the DC? |
Apr-05-06 | | Cogano: Hello <cg.com> & I hope all is well. :) Who exactly is ACDC? You don't mean to tell me that all the members of the band ACDC collectively played as a team vs. Shirov? Why? & how did this come about/was it arranged? Thanks much. :) Take very good care & have a great day. :) Cheers! :) |

 | | cu8sfan: The pgn of the only game of this guy says 'Internet USCF' so <ACDC> must be the logon of some player that got to play Shirov in a simul in 2000. 2000/2001 is known as the Bright Ages of chessgames.com. During that era they loaded any game into the db that they could get their hands on. Some of these games don't meet the standards to upload a game required today. |

Apr-05-06 | | Cogano: Hello again <cu8sfan> & I hope all is well. :) Thanks much for the info/trivia. :) Take very good care & I'll talk to you later. :) Cheers! :) |

Apr-05-06 | | dakgootje: <(...)Bright Ages of chessgames.com. During that era (...)> And tonight, ladies and gentleman, we present you... a lesson in chessgames.com's history by cu8sfan!!! *claps* ;-) |
Apr-05-06 | | refutor: i thought it started around early 2002? |
Apr-05-06 | | Jim Bartle: Kibitzer's Cafe started January 20, 2002. I assume that was close to the startup date. |
Apr-05-06 | | dakgootje: Yup but the webmaster-account was started 30dec 2001 i thought, and it would be quite logical if the admins had the first acocunt ;-) |

Apr-05-06 | | yoozum: You can't spell AC/DC without the lightening bolt. |

Apr-05-06 | | EmperorAtahualpa: <i thought it started around early 2002?> <refutor> Maybe there was already a website with a database before there was a kibitzing function? In that case, the website could have existed much earlier! |
Apr-06-06 | | refutor: it's possible, but in those days i would scourge the internet for anything chess related. i found it in january 2002, so it couldn't have been around much earlier than that |

 | | cu8sfan: <i found it in january 2002, so it couldn't have been around much earlier than that> Yes, but I reckon they first started collecting games and went online with the site after that. So they collected many games from 2000/2001 before putting them online. |
Apr-06-06 | | Cogano: Well if it's of any relevance or use, at the absolute bottom of the page, on my webpage at least, the 2nd line from the bottom reads: <Copyright 2001-2006, Chessgames.com>! So maybe they did exist as far back as 2001! |
Apr-06-06 | | Benzol: Was this Shirov playing against the rock group? |
Apr-06-06 | | Cogano: <Benzol> I'm beginning to become increasingly convinced that the only to obtain the answer to that question is to ask it on <cg.com>'s forum. But I'll wait & see what develops here first. Take care & I'll talk to you later. :) |
Apr-06-06 | | dakgootje: <So maybe they did exist as far back as 2001!> We knew that already ;-) <User: Webmaster > as you can see, the webmaster account was created 30 dec 2001, which is indeed quite late in the year 2001, but still ;-) |

Nov-13-06 | | twinlark: Sneaky's first post seems to have been on 24 December 2001 at Euwe vs Cortlever, 1940. |

Nov-13-06 | | Archives: Thunderstruck is one of my favourite Rock songs. |

Nov-13-06 | | percyblakeney: <Sneaky's first post> He also has the first post on the Fischer page the same day, with a not unexpected message :-) But there are some earlier posts as well: Search Kibitzing |
