... Alfred Kinzel hat alle Ehrungen erfahren, die dem Deutschen Schachbund möglich sind. Er ist unser Ehrenpräsident und Träger der Goldenen Ehrennadel. Der Bundespräsident hat ihn durch das Bundesverdienstkreuz ausgezeichnet.

Ich kann aber mitteilen, dass Anfang November in Bled eine weitere Auszeichnung durch die FIDE auf Vorschlag des Deutschen Schachbundes bevorsteht: Alfred Kinzel wird durch den Präsidenten Kirsan Ilyumzhinov zum Ritter der FIDE ernannt und ist damit der erste Schachorganisator, der diese Auszeichnung erhält. ...
