CHANDRA HAWSA KONERU
(born Jul-04-1988, 36 years old) India

[what is this?]
Koneru Chandra Hawsa competed, alongside her elder sister, Koneru Humpy, at the 19th World Girls (U20) Championship in India in 2002, and in what appears to have been her first FIDE rated tournament she scored 7/13. In 2003, she came =1st with 6/8 alongside Bagyashree Sathe Thipsay and M R Sangeetha in the 30th (Indian) National Women's Championship B held in Calicut and toward the end of the year came 3rd in the 18th national Girls Championship. In 2004 Koneru came =1st in a Round Robin Tournament held in Vijayawada with 10/13 and scored 6/5/13 in the World Girls (U20) Championship held at the end of that year. Her career best results came in December 2004 when she won the Vishak tournament in Vishakapatnam with 15/17 (adding 87 rating points for this result alone), came second in the Vijayawada tournament held immediately afterwards also in Vishakapatnam and placed 3rd with 4.5/7 in the Vizag Round Robin. Koneru added 145 rating points for these three tournaments. However in May 2005, she scored poorly in the First Saturday IM Tournament in Budapest after which she only played three more FIDE rated tournaments before apparently retiring from competition chess at the end of 2005 at the age of 17. Her peak rating had been 2305 in April 2005.
