  MissScarlett: Philadelphia Inquirer, December 21st 1937, p.10:

<To the Editor of The Inquirer:

Your editorial saying we should get out of China is certainly not patriotic and borders on cowardice.

Such as you would squeal "get out of Canada" were the Jap rats to threaten that country. And when you speak of inviting a terrible war, you are either stupid or making a deliberate misstatement.

Japan is cracking - cracking - cracking. Only by the desperate concentration of all her resources has she been able to capture Nanking. Another self-exhausting effort like that and the rats will be completely done for. Are you so stupid you can't see?

S.L. Stadelman Philadelphia, Dec. 20.>

Can't be certain this is our man, but how many S.L. Stadelmans could be knocking about in one city?

Stadelman seems to have fallen off the chess map after 1914. Maybe <Tab> can pick up the scent.
