Feb-15-14  optimal play: <<On Monday evening about a dozen gentlemen held a preliminary meeting at Port Adelaide, with the view to forming a Chess Club.

Mr. A. J. Edmunds presided.

It was resolved that the following officers be elected, such officers to form a Standing Committee of Management:—

President; <Mr. R. B. Hale>;

Treasurer; Mr. H D. O'Halloran;

Secretary; Mr. Braddock.

It was further resolved that the amount of entrance-fee should be 2s. 6d. and annual subscription 10s. 6d.

The Club to be called "The Port Adelaide Club."

The Committee were empowered to make arrangements for a room, and to incur such expense as might be deemed necessary; also, to prepare rules and regulations, to be laid before the members at their next meeting.>
