Here is a link to an engraving showing a round of the 1874 Canadian championship won by Hicks: http://goo.gl/3K95pl. It’s a newspaper clip from the Canadian Illustrated News, 14 July 1874, p. 36. The accompanying article is on p. 43 and can be read at http://goo.gl/1EdVL8.

The tournament was a 10-player round-robin held in Montreal High School Hall (outside view of the building in 1875: http://goo.gl/bqZf72). The article mentions that "the games are to be published in pamphlet form shortly", but I don’t know if any score survives somewhere. There is a crosstable at http://chess.ca/node/523.
