Born circa 1878, extant 1954.

Mr. Alexander Charles Palmer, Brisbane Chess Club. " Won tournament held in 1895 to determine the chess championship of the colony. Besides winning individual games in various club contests, the above is his only performance. 1.

Played in several of the New South Wales vs. Queensland Telegraphic Matches (1902, 1903, 1904, 1907 and 1909).

He then retired from chess until he gave a simultaneous display in 1935, he was later patron of the Brisbane Chess in 1954.

  Chessical: "The Brisbane Chess Club will celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.The present patron (Mr.Alexander Palmer), was one of the leading players when the club was formed in 1894. The youngest competitor, he won the 1895 Queensland Championship at the age of 17."

"The Courier-Mail" (Brisbane), Tuesday 16 November 1954, p.9.

"After an absence of many years Mr A. C. Palmer re-entered into the field when he played the members of the Brisbane Ladies' Chess Club simultaneously. Although hard pressed in a few of the games he was successful in all of them."
