<<DEATH OF MR. W. J. FULLARTON.—>We regret having to record the death of Mr. W. J. Fullarton, which occurred at his residence, East Adelaide, on Monday.
The deceased gentleman, who was in his fifty-third year, had been an invalid for some years past, and during the last four of his life he was confined to his house.
He arrived in the colony in 1855, and entered into partnership with Mr. McFarlane Heriot as a general merchant, and the firm carried on business until 1868.
Mr. Fullarton then engaged in a general agency business, and was Secretary to several Companies.
In January, 1875, he undertook the Secretaryship of the Southern Insurance Company, which position he held until April, 1884, when his resignation was accepted by the Company.
Mr. Fullarton was one of the founders of the Adelaide Chess Club, and shone as one of the best exponents of the game in the city.
Formerly he occupied the presidency of the club.
Mrs. James Frew, of Fullarton, was an aunt of the deceased gentleman, who leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss.>
