Jul-19-17  Eagle41257: He is from Philippines https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olimp...
Jul-19-17  Pulo y Gata: I think he played Petrosian in the 1960 olympiad. Met him sometime in the 1980s with no interest in chess anymore. Wonder if he's still alive?
Jul-19-17  Howard: Does anyone know if he lived in Chicago back in 1979 ? I played someone by that name in a postal game (remember those days?!), and he had an exceptionally high rating. Yes, he beat me--but it was a good rook ending, as I recall.

And, he was from the Philippines, as I recall.

tamar: He played in the US Open 1979, as recorded by our own estimable Phony Benoni Game Collection: US Open 1979, Chicago
Jul-19-17  Howard: Then it IS the same guy! I remember now--he told me in a couple of his postcards that he was playing in that !

Thanks!

Jul-19-17  Eagle41257: There is another Philippinian chessplayer who has the same name and lives in the USA Romuel Reyes
Jul-19-17  Eagle41257: 365chess.com made a third player from these two - J. Reyes https://www.365chess.com/players/J....
