Feb-06-06  blingice: Is (RUS) a nickname or did <CG.com> used to label people's names with their country?

chessgames.com: Names that appear in the form "Feigelson Josif (RUS)" come from numerous electronic chess sources which list their name information in that format.

The format they use is

<last-name> <first-name> <middle name or initial> (<country>)

So RUS simply stands for Russia. When we import games from such sources, they player name will remain like this in our database until one of the admins cleans it up by hand, like we've done here.

Incidentally, it is technically not correct to stuff extra information into the name tags like that, despite its widespread prevalence.
