MissScarlett: Robert was the subject of an AP article <Boy, 5, Is a Mini-Bobby Fischer> in the <Los Angeles Times> of December 8th 1972, Part 1-A p.8, wherein we unsurprisingly learn that he was inspired by the Fischer-Spassky match. Shelby Lyman opines: <His talents are extraordinary.>

<When his father realized how good his son was, he took Robert to Bruce Pandolfini and George Kane, chess masters at the Marshall Chess Club here last September.

They began giving their youthful pupil, who lives in Manhattan, systematic instruction and brought him to the Shelby Lyman Chess Institute, the organization Lyman set up to encourage growth of the ancient game.>

Hadn't heard of this school. Were there any famous pupils or did it sink without trace?
