Igor Yakovlevich Zakharevich was a Grandmaster.

From 7 to 17 July 2005, he played in the Viking 2005 grandmaster tournament that was played in Saint Petersburg and was won by Michail Brodsky with 6.5 points from 10 rounds. Andrej Devjatkin finished second, also with 6.5 points and Igor was also third with 6.5 points. The three places were decided by a tie-break . From 14 to 23 October 2005, the Chigorin commemorative tournament was played in Saint Petersburg, which was won by Roman Ovetchkin with 7 out of 9. Zacharevich also finished with 7 points.
