Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-09-24  Delboy: The player contesting the 1957 Portoroz tournament was clearly not the junior at the 1976 under-17 world championship. I suspect the latter may be a South African who counted amongst that country's strongest players of that era

Stonehenge: I did some cleaning up. According to https://www.brasilbase.pro.br/w16b1... this David Walker was from Scotland.

He is being mentioned here: https://www.chessscotland.com/docum....

David Andrew Walker was from South Africa but he was born in 1954.

Nov-11-24  Delboy: Yes, the South African David (A.) Walker, who I frequently saw at tournaments in the 1980's, could have been born in 1954, and would not have been under-17 in 1976. So perhaps we have at least three David Walkers

John Saunders: I think this particular D Walker may have been Duncan Walker (Scotland, b 1959).

John Saunders: Ignore my previous message. I've checked with Alan McGowan and he has shown me convincing evidence that the Scottish player who took part in the 1976 World U17 Championship was David James Walker, from Paisley, whom he thinks was born in 1961. Not to be confused with the English FM David John Walker, born 1964.
